Shortly
after getting married in 2020, Steuart and Belinda put together Ragtime Razzle - to
showcase their love and enjoyment of Ragtime, Jazz and light
classical music.
Although
both trained as classical musicians, they found they both really
enjoyed playing Ragtime as piano duets (after they first met, their
second date was spent playing piano duets!). Steuart arranges rags by
Scott Joplin, James Scott, Joseph Lamb, May Aufderheide and others for piano four hands.
The
duo recently attended the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO
and even got a chance to perform out there (see sidebar)
Belinda's talents extend to singing (she really likes
singing "oldies" from the 1920's, 30's, and 40's) as well as playing
the flute (she was a former US Marine and played in the US Marine
Band). Steuart enjoys arranging popular songs as well as Jazz classics
for flute and piano.
They also enjoy acting it up in period
costumes and pepper their performances with amusing anecdotes and a
very obvious expression of enjoyment in sharing their music with any
audience.
